10" WWII Shell found in our town!

Earlier today my wife came rushing in from work to tell me that a bomb had been unearthed just 5 minutes up the road from where we live!

It must be the day for it as another UXB was today found in Yorkshire as we found out later from our local news bulletin.

A few hours after our own local discovery (in Stanley, County Durham) I found out that the dug up explosive was in fact a WWII 10" shell which was detonated on site by the bomb squad.

How it actually got there is a bit of a mystery but it does make you think what else is lurking around waiting to go bang!
