Well it seems that the figures are calling me back. For a few weeks now I've found myself reading others blogs and beginning to realise that I miss the wargames table. So hopefully in the New Year when the chaos that is work has finally died down I shall be breaking out the figures again and possibly even the old paint box!
Having sold all my WWII stuff I'll be devoting my time fully to my Napoleonics (which I also came extremely close to selling!) and will be gaming using the Snappy Naps rules.
I will however not be spending as much time on the hobby as I once did as I'm currently training for a couple of charity cycling events next year and I have to admit that cycling is my real passion. It may be a case of me being a 'bad weather wargamer' rather than a full time devotee to the hobby, but it will be nice to push the figures around again.
Welcome back Steve, I've recently returned to the fold as well. Looking forward to seeing some of your figures soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter. So it wasn'r just me that lost the urge to game this year then eh?
DeleteWelcome back! Too much of a good thing isn't really good at all! If I wasn't married with kids, my free time would be devoured by the hobby and my home filled with hobby debris. Although I rail at the honey-dos and stepping on legos in the dark, I am better for having more than just wargames in my life. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Davidou're right, too much of a good thing isn't really good at all! Wargaming / modelling / painting are my second love these days. If the weather is fine then you'll find me on the road cycling which I really enjoy. Still nice to have something to occupy me during the bad weather though!.
DeleteNice to have you back Steve!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Ray. It's good to be back in the land of the lunatics!
DeleteWhat to say...Welcome back to the the delightful world of miniatures, painting and wargaming :-)
ReplyDeleteMarzio.
Thanks Marzio. Hopefully I can spend the time I have in between work and cycling doing something a little more productive this coming year.
DeleteAll the best.
This is very true Andrew. Hopefully 2014 will see me getting a few more games in and no doubt adding a few more figures to the collection.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see this post. We all have to find that balance. The job has consumed me for the last few weeks, but hopefully after the first of the year, I'll have more itme for my hobby.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike, good to be back. I know what you mean about work taking up so much time. I'm run off my feet at the moment but I know that come January I'll have more than enough time to spend gaming / painting.
DeleteWelcome back, Steve. Glad you kept your Napoleonics. Like everything else in our lives, "The Hobby" (TM) has its seasons.
ReplyDeleteI think you might be right. I honestl thought a few months ago that my gaming days were done with. So glad I hung on to my figures! ... That little voice at the back of my mind was saying 'you'll regret selling these Steve so don't do it!'... So glad I listened to it!
DeleteExcellent news Steve, we've missed you :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Lee, goog to be back mate. Just been looking at your WWII figures... Very nice job.
DeleteI'm currently celebrating today's fantastic win over Chelsea. Indulge me... We haven't had much to celebrate so far this season. Hope you're well mate.
