Well, not much to report on the progress of the loft project since my last update I'm afraid. Everything has come to a halt for now due to several reasons including complete lack of motivation!
I finished sealing the brickwork last weekend and bought the skirting boards ready to fit but after waking up last Monday morning with a rather nasty stomach upset the work has come to a halt.
I was only ill for a day or two but since then I seem to have hit 'the wall' as the marathon runners call it and I just cannot seem to get motivated again to get up there and finish the job.
I've also been worrying about work... or should I say the lack of it?. January is always a very quiet time for me as a self employed carpet fitter, but this year it's been particularly bad and funds are extremely limited at the moment. I just can't justify spending money on what is after all a hobby project, when my wife is working all hours just to keep us afloat.
Fingers crossed that work will pick up in the next week or so and that my motivation returns so that I can at last finish the job in hand.

Cheers Steve. Here's hoping!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling Steve, I'm currently unemployed and being supported by a hard working Mrs! It's a struggle just to pay the mortgage and the keep on top of the bills but hobby time keeps me sane, just about :-) ...... lets hope things improve soon. Good luck mate.
ReplyDeleteLee.
Things are tough all round by the looks of it Lee. All the best mate.

Hope things look up for you, but it may be good to take a break for a short while...meantime you can start to plan the fun parts, like the table, storage, display, etc.
ReplyDeleteBet the house is taking less heat this winter with all that insulation up there, too!
Peter
Thanks Peter. I'm into my second week of doing nothing up in the loft and I must admit that the old motivation is starting to come back slowly. Once things on the work front pick up I'll make the final push to get it finished off. In the meantime I'm spending a bit of time figure painting.
